ABOUT

“The Academies are not a class. They're not a meeting. They're a transformational model of how we do school.”

— Kim Morales

What is the Academies of Louisville Alliance?

The Academies of Louisville Alliance, an initiative within KentuckianaWorks and supported by Greater Louisville Inc., is dedicated to connecting community business partners with Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) Academies of Louisville high schools. The Alliance supports student success by bridging academic instruction with hands-on experiences within the community.

Through strategic partnerships with local businesses, the Alliance facilitates meaningful interactions that prepare students for successful careers. This collaboration enriches students' learning while helping businesses build a skilled talent pipeline essential for workforce development in the Greater Louisville area.

Why are the Academies of Louisville a model for success?

The Academies of Louisville thrive not as a mere program but through the strength of the people and relationships that support them. Our dedicated educators, students, and business partners collaborate to create transformative learning experiences. While we are grateful for the business partners who are already involved, we continually seek more who are inspired to commit to student success and help shape the future workforce.

How are the Academies of Louisville structured?

The Academies of Louisville are structured as small learning communities within each of the 15 high schools in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS). Each high school consists of career-themed Academies, offering various pathways that align with industry sectors. For instance, a student might be in the Pre-Nursing Pathway within the Health Sciences Academy at Doss High School

Who is involved in the Academies of Louisville?

School educators and administration collaborate with business partners to provide real-world learning experiences to the students, who then enter the adulthood to contribute to the community. The Alliance bridges businesses with schools.

This is what school can be.
